Snorkelling off Koh Lipe...

Let me take you on a snorkelling adventure through the eyes of my children and myself around the stunning Island of Koh Lipe, Southern Thailand.

As I feel the soft powdery sand underfoot, we pop on our snorkel gear and head a mere 20 metres from the beach to find 'NEMO'. Snorkelllng in Koh Lipe, Southern Thailand will provide yourself and children hours of interactive fun.

Okay, so lets go as you follow us on our snorkelling tour....

The clear calm water of the Andaman ocean provides great visibility and is abundant with fish life, making it a memorable adventure for your family. Snorkelling off Pattaya Beach can be a little intimidating due to the many long tail boats, but make sure you stay to the left hand side of the beach, near Bundhaya resort, this is also where you will find the best snorkelling.

Louis giving us the 'Thumbs Up' as we discover the beauty that lives under the ocean.

Lucie and Isabella take a breather...

There are many sea urchins on the sea bed and surrounding coral areas, so be careful as you wouldn't want to step on one of these babies....

We encounter a pretty school of fish as we continue to snorkel around the reef.

Another interesting creature you may encounter whilst snorkelling around Pattaya Beach is the Sea cucumber. Sea cucumbers  are sausage shaped, and their skin is covered with warty bumps or soft spines. When threatened, cucumbers can contract their muscles and shoot out water from their body making them shorter, thicker, and harder, some Sea cucumbers can even shoot out their insides and then grow new insides, pretty cool huh??.  Sea cucumbers have hundreds of tiny suction-cup tube feet that they use to crawl across the sea floor.

The clownfish is surely everybody's favourite fish? Especially being made super cool by Disney/ Pixars 'Finding Nemo' movie. The clownfish is also one of the most cleverest as well! It is just one of a few fish that can make itself immune to a sea anemones sting. Unlike other fish the very clever 'clownfish' is able to swim freely between the poisonous tentacles of an anenome without being stung. This gives them protection and is a very good reason to take up residence! My family are quite obsessed with 'FINDING NEMO' each time we snorkel around the Island, you can count 3 clown fish in the anemone above.ASAShe Clownfish is surely everybody’s favourite fish? Well, thats the end of our snorkelling adventure around Koh Lipe, did I mention the Sea snake, that my husband encountered?? I might keep that one for next time. We hope to see you snorkelling around Koh Lipe very soon...xxx
